Discovery Cruise Line, departing Port Everglades, offers day-long cruises to Freeport, Grand Bahama Island, where, for additional fees, visitors can scuba or snorkel, fish or golf, or just shop and eat. Food, a sun deck and swimming pool, casino gambling and entertainment are featured aboard ship. Broward County shopping is diverse and plentiful. The Galleria at Fort Lauderdale, 2414 E. Sunrise Blvd., features anchor stores Macy's, Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue as well as dining and entertainment venues. In nearby Plantation are Broward Mall, University Drive and Broward Boulevard, and Fashion Mall at Plantation, 321 N. University Dr.
Offerings in the western suburbs include Coral Square Mall, 9469 W. Atlantic Blvd. in Coral Springs, and Pembroke Lakes Mall, 11401 Pines Blvd. in Pembroke Pines.
The shops along Las Olas Boulevard between Federal Highway and the beach offer a unique experience. Specialty shops line US 1 at both the north and south entrances to the city.
More than 300 outlet stores, including many upscale and high-fashion retailers, comprise Sawgrass Mills, 12801 W. Sunrise Blvd. in Sunrise. In addition, The Colonnade Outlets at Sawgrass, 1800 Sawgrass Mills Cir., is an open-air promenade featuring such outlets as Barneys New York; Coach Factory; Neiman Marcus, Last Call; and Stuart Weitzman.
True bargain hunters may enjoy the Swap Shop, 3291 W. Sunrise Blvd. The 80-acre flea market features more than 2,000 vendors with wares ranging from brand-name electronics to antiques.
